Are you a Drama graduate looking for a rewarding career where creativity, communication and empathy can make a genuine difference?
Axcis Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism and learning disabilities in an inclusive all-through school in Bristol.
Why is this opportunity ideal for Drama graduates?
Your understanding of communication, expression, body language and human emotions provides a fantastic foundation for supporting children with additional needs. Drama encourages creativity, confidence, teamwork and self-expression, all valuable tools when helping vulnerable pupils overcome barriers to learning.
An understanding of criminology can also bring valuable insight into social disadvantage, vulnerability, trauma and the environmental factors that influence behaviour.
Discover a unique learning environment
This established school has a strong community ethos, with a commitment to helping every pupil fulfil their potential, regardless of background or ability.
Its latest Ofsted inspection confirmed that the school remained Good. Inspectors particularly recognised the harmonious atmosphere, positive relationships between pupils and staff, and clear behaviour routines that allow children to focus on learning.
The school also champions kindness, readiness to learn and personal achievement, creating an environment where pupils are encouraged to become confident, resilient individuals.
What makes a great Teaching Assistant?
Previous school experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who is:
• Patient, compassionate and emotionally resilient.
• Creative, enthusiastic and approachable.
• Adaptable and confident building relationships.
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable children.
• Motivated by helping others achieve their potential.
Your personality, values and willingness to make a difference matter more than experience.
