Employee Relations Specialist
Location: Watford (4 days on-site, 1 day remote)
Salary: Up to £45,000 + 10% annual bonus
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A renowned retail brand is seeking a skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join its HR team based in Watford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR / ER professional to play a key role in delivering a high-quality, commercially focused HR advisory service within a fast-paced, people-centric business.

Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, you’ll manage complex and sensitive ER casework, provide expert advice to managers, and help shape best practice in employee relations across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

Manage a portfolio of complex ER cases, including grievance, disciplinary, capability, and appeal matters — up to Employment Tribunal preparation.

Deliver expert, pragmatic, and risk-aware advice to managers on policies, employment law, and best practice people management.

Coach and influence managers to reach effective, commercial, and compliant people decisions.

Support the development of ER Advisors through mentoring and exposure to more complex cases.

Prepare documentation for internal and external hearings, including tribunal submissions.

Design and deliver training sessions for managers on employee relations and people management topics.

Contribute to HR policy reviews and process improvements to enhance service delivery.

Maintain accurate and timely HR data and case records, ensuring adherence to SLAs.

What You’ll Bring:

Substantial experience managing complex ER cases and providing advice in a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.

Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels.

Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.

CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards), or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office.

A proactive, calm, and solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
