Description

Our client in East London are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or Pollution Officer to join a small Pollution / Environmental Protection team in a technical, non-reactive role. The successful candidate will lead on noise-related planning consultations, assessing development proposals and providing specialist advice to Planning. They will also manage and advise on Section 61 applications and derogations under the Control of Pollution Act, while supporting wider environmental priorities such as air quality action planning and contributing to public consultation processes. There will also be opportunities to support water quality improvement work and broader environmental initiatives across the council and partner organisations.

You will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer or an experienced Pollution Officer with a strong background in environmental protection and pollution control. You should have proven experience in noise planning consultations and a solid understanding of Section 61 processes, alongside knowledge of air quality management and action planning. An awareness of water quality issues and environmental improvement projects would be advantageous. We are looking for someone who can work independently, think strategically, and provide clear, professional technical advice.

This role offers the opportunity to focus on high-level, technical and project-based work without the demands of reactive service delivery. It will be 3 months initially paying £54PH Umbrella
