Description
Axcis is looking for teaching assistant to work at an expanding SEND School in the Handsworth area.
The successful applicant will have prior experience of:
- Supporting children and young people with complex needs stemming from their primary diagnosis of Autism
- Working within a special school environment
As a teaching assistant within this a school you will need to work independently and as part of a team. You will be an integral part of the team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything they do. The hours for this role is 8:30 - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, flexible and will work hard to meet the personalised needs of the children. The post holder will have high expectations of the children ensuring they reflect on the children’s needs to ensure progress is being made both academically, socially and emotionally. Depending on the child(ren) you are supporting, there may be a requirement to support with low-level personal care.
You will support the class teacher to promote positive behaviour, you will understand learning objectives, content and intended outcomes for the learning activities in which students are involved and you will support monitoring student progress. You will be part of a key team around the young person in order to maintain consistent support, communication and updated support plans.
About you:
Ideally, for this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working with children who have ASD/SEMH needs, a passion for supporting young people to learn and develop but more importantly, someone who wants to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people. You will need to be flexible in the ages of students you are willing to support, as due to the needs of the school you may be required to support in other classes when other staff are absent.
