Description

Are you looking for flexible, meaningful work where you can support children who need an extra helping hand? We are seeking friendly, calm and flexible Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in North Somerset. This is an ideal role if you want to make a difference while keeping the freedom to balance other interests, studies or responsibilities.

You’ll be supporting pupils with SEMH needs, autism and learning disabilities, helping them to feel safe, included and confident in the school environment. Every day is different, and you’ll gain valuable experience in a variety of settings — with opportunities for permanent work if you wish to transition out of flexible working. It’s also a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in school environments before pursuing teacher training or other careers focused on young people.

The role:

• Full-time or part-time options
• Working hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
• £13.70 per hour
• Start ASAP
• Placements across North Somerset
• Must be a driver with your own transport

About the work:

As a flexible Teaching Assistant, you’ll step into different classrooms and provide support where it’s needed most. This might involve helping pupils understand the learning, offering calm reassurance, supporting emotional regulation, or adapting activities for learners with additional needs. The role is varied, sometimes challenging, but always rewarding.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is warm, patient and genuinely enjoys working with children
• Can build positive relationships and offer a consistent, reassuring presence
• Is adaptable, reliable and comfortable working in different school environments
• Has experience with young or vulnerable people — perhaps as a graduate, youth worker, sports coach, support worker or previous TA — although your personality, values and attitude are what matter most
• Is happy to travel between schools and enjoys a role with variety

What this role offers:

• Flexibility to suit your lifestyle
• Regular school hours with weekends and evenings free
• A chance to make a meaningful difference to vulnerable young people
• An excellent pathway for gaining experience in school settings
• Opportunities for long-term or permanent work if you’re the right fit for a school
• Support from a friendly team that values your wellbeing and development

If you’re caring, motivated and ready to support children who need someone in their corner, we’d love to hear from you.
