Our esteemed educational institution in Bury, Greater Manchester, is seeking a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to become an integral part of our team. This full-time position is catered towards an individual with a dedicated interest in facilitating the academic and personal development of students aged 11 to 18, with a specialized focus on mental health support.
**Role and Responsibilities:**
- Work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programs with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behavior Plans and Personal Care programs.
- Provide specialist support to students, addressing their social, emotional, and educational needs – helping to nurture a supportive learning environment.
- Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all students within the classroom, promoting independence and self-confidence as learners.
- Act as a role model and mentor to individuals who require additional mental health support, exhibiting patience, understanding, and resilience.
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and students alike and contributing to the planning of future lessons.
- Support students during exam preparation and provide constructive aid in test-taking strategies.
- Attend and contribute to planning meetings, as well as professional development sessions, to continuously improve personal expertise and effectiveness within the role.
- Engage with parents and carers to facilitate supportive strategies both within the educational environment and at home.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- A recognised and relevant NVQ/CACHE Level 4 or equivalent qualification, or extensive experience working in a secondary education setting is essential.
- Proven experience supporting young people, particularly those with mental health needs.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills to support the creation and delivery of effective learning activities.
- Comprehension of national curriculum standards and how they can be applied within the classroom.
- A compassionate, caring, and flexible approach to supporting young people.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undertake one.
