About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our welcoming mainstream primary school this September.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a specialist KS1 provision, supporting pupils—primarily in Year 2—with Autism (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). As the lead adult in a dedicated “hub” classroom, you will deliver a highly personalised, semi-formal curriculum that nurtures communication, independence, and engagement.
Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher and SENCo, you will play a key role in shaping an inspiring and inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a small KS1 class within a specialist provision
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons using a multi-sensory approach
• Organise learning through structured carousel activities
• Use TEACCH strategies to support routine, independence, and engagement
• Contribute to and deliver elements of the Equals curriculum
• Create and adapt bespoke learning resources for individual pupils
• Support pupils’ integration into mainstream settings where appropriate
• Work collaboratively with TAs and school staff, providing guidance and support
• Monitor, assess, and track progress, adapting provision to meet changing needs
About the Provision
• Two dedicated specialist “hub” classrooms
• Focus on communication, independence, and engagement
• Strong links to mainstream learning opportunities
• Well-supported by an experienced SENCo and senior leadership team
About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Holds HLTA status (or has equivalent experience)
• Has experience supporting pupils with ASC and/or SLCN
• Is confident leading a class, or ready to step into a leadership role
• Understands inclusive and adaptive teaching approaches
• Has experience with—or is keen to develop skills in:
• Equals curriculum
