Learning Support Assistant – Mainstream College (Vocational Pathways)

Location: Plumstead, SE18
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026

We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming mainstream college in Plumstead, supporting students with additional needs across a range of vocational courses.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a college setting, helping learners access practical subjects such as Media, Business, Mechanics, ICT, and Hairdressing.

The Role

You will work closely with lecturers and college staff to provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs, including ASD, SEMH, and epilepsy. Your role will be key in enabling students to engage fully in both practical and classroom-based learning.

We are looking for individuals who are patient, adaptable, and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting young people to build confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs
Support engagement in vocational and classroom-based learning
Use positive behaviour strategies to support students effectively
Assist with any personal care or medical needs where required
Work alongside teaching staff to implement individual learning plans
Encourage independence, confidence, and social development

About You

Experience supporting young people with additional needs is desirable, but not essential
Calm, patient, and flexible approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Confident supporting behaviour in a positive and proactive way
Interested in working across a range of vocational subjects
Committed to supporting students to achieve their full potential
