Description

Location: Ilminster
Pay: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Ilminster.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive school community where children are encouraged to develop not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. The school places a strong emphasis on creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to help pupils get the most from their education.
No two days will be exactly the same. You may support children within the classroom, work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, or lead small-group activities to help reinforce learning and develop key skills.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils with their academic learning
• Providing 1:1 support where required
• Working with small groups of children
• Helping pupils access and engage with classroom activities
• Supporting children with SEND and additional needs
• Encouraging confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
• Supporting children's social and emotional development
• Building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment

Who Are We Looking For?

We're looking for someone who is:

• Patient, caring and enthusiastic
• Passionate about supporting children's learning and development
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils
• Adaptable and willing to support a range of individual needs
• A strong team player with good communication skills

Previous experience working with children would be beneficial, whether this has been gained through education, childcare, youth work, coaching, mentoring or another child-focused role.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs would also be advantageous, but a positive attitude and genuine passion for helping children succeed are equally important.

Why Apply?

• Join a welcoming and supportive primary school environment
• Make a genuine difference to children's learning and development
• Gain valuable classroom and SEND experience
• Develop skills in education and pastoral support
• Excellent experience for aspiring teachers and other child-focused professionals
• Full-time opportunity with potential for long-term work

If you're passionate about helping children develop confidence, overcome challenges and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today to become a valued Teaching Assistant in Ilminster.
