Description

Location: Ilminster
Pay: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Contract (Temp - Perm): Full-time | Term Time Only | September Start

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Ilminster from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a community-focused school that is committed to helping every child reach their potential. The school places children at the heart of its work, celebrating their individuality and encouraging them to become confident, independent learners who are curious about the world around them.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to provide additional support to pupils who may need help accessing the curriculum, developing their confidence, or overcoming barriers to learning.
The role will involve a combination of 1:1 support and small group activities, helping children to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will play an important role in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel valued, supported, and able to succeed.

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils who require additional help
• Support small group activities and targeted interventions
• Help children access classroom learning and participate fully
• Encourage confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
• Support pupils with their social and emotional development
• Build positive and trusting relationships with children
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team
• Adapt your approach to meet individual needs
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

We're Looking for Someone Who:

• Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic
• Has experience working with children or young people
• Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively
• Is adaptable and able to respond to individual needs
• Works well as part of a team
• Has a genuine passion for helping children learn and thrive

Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs would be beneficial, although we are also keen to hear from candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or other child-focused roles.

Why Apply?

• Join a welcoming and inclusive primary school community
• Make a genuine difference to children's learning and development
• Support the whole child, including their social and emotional wellbeing
• Gain valuable experience across the primary age range
• Work alongside a dedicated and supportive team
• Excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, psychologists, youth workers, or SEND professionals

The school is committed to providing a broad and enjoyable curriculum that supports children's development both academically and personally, with a strong emphasis on helping pupils become confident and independent learners. Its most recent Ofsted inspection, published in January 2023 following a November 2022 inspection, judged the school Good across all reported areas.

If you're passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers, discover their strengths, and reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to become a valued Learning Support Assistant in Ilminster.
