We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming middle school in the Taunton area.
Supporting pupils aged approximately 9–13, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people during an important stage of their education and personal development. The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the wider school team to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make the most of their education.
You may provide support within the classroom, on a 1:1 basis, or through small-group interventions, depending on the needs of individual pupils. Alongside supporting academic progress, you will play an important role in helping young people develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils access and engage with classroom learning
• Supporting children with SEND and additional needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Building strong and trusting relationships with young people
• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Supporting positive social interaction with peers
• Adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs
• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who is patient, caring and passionate about supporting children and young people.
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant would be beneficial, but we would also love to hear from candidates with relevant experience gained through:
• Care or support work
• Youth work or mentoring
• Coaching
• Childcare
• SEND support
• Other roles working with children and young people
The ideal candidate will be adaptable, resilient and able to build positive relationships quickly. Most importantly, you'll have a genuine desire to make a difference to young people's experiences of education.
