Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Oldham, OL2
Contract Type: Full-time
Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Salary: From £90 per day, depending on experience.

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate level 2 teaching assistant to join a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Oldham, Lancashire. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with autism and complex behavioural needs, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide tailored one-to-one support for a KS1 pupil with Autism.
• Build a strong, professional relationship to promote engagement, confidence, and social development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement effective learning and behaviour strategies.
• Plan and deliver targeted interventions, including speech, language, and phonics support.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, adapting support strategies where necessary.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively using de-escalation techniques.
• Support the pupil during lunchtime duties to ensure consistency throughout the school day.
• Engage in ongoing CPD and training provided by the school.

Essential Criteria:
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or above).
• Experience supporting children with additional needs within the UK education system.
• A current DBS registered on the update service.
• Strong understanding of Autism and complex behaviour management.
• Ability to plan and deliver targeted interventions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A commitment to professional development and inclusive education.

Desirable Experience:
• Specific training or experience supporting children on the Autism spectrum.
• Experience working in schools with high SEND needs and socioeconomic challenges.
