This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic clinical team providing essential support across ophthalmology clinics and diagnostic services.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care through the provision of ophthalmic investigations, clinic support, and visual field services. Working within both outpatient and hospital settings, this position offers a varied and rewarding career path with scope for development through a structured competency framework.
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
• Performing ophthalmic assessments including OCT scans, biometry, corneal topography and auto refraction.
• Conducting visual acuity tests and administering prescribed eye drops.
• Supporting retinal and general ophthalmology clinics, including assisting with visual field tests.
• Preparing, cleaning and maintaining clinical equipment and ensuring its availability for use.
• Ensuring accurate and confidential documentation using electronic patient records.
• Supporting clerical and administrative duties within the clinical environment.
• Communicating effectively with patients, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Participating in ongoing training, including completing the Care Certificate, Band 3 Competency Pathway and Ophthalmology module.
• Promoting high standards of care through role-modelling and professional practice.
The ideal candidate will have:
The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to complete, an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent, including the Band 3 Ophthalmic Competency Module. Previous experience in a caring or health-related role is essential, along with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be flexible, empathetic and committed to delivering patient-centred care in accordance with professional and legislative standards.
