Company details and Job overview:

Kenton Black Finance are currently recruiting for a full-time and permanent Payroll Manager (standalone) on behalf of a manufacturing business that is based in Lytham. This company has been established for over 50 years and has a global presence with production facilities in the UK, India and China. You will solely manage 4 payrolls, 2 monthly and 2 weekly, for circa 250 employees. You will have at least 2 years experience in a similar job and be confident enough to manage the end to end payroll process.

Your new Role as the Payroll Manager:

• This is an operational role that requires daily on-site interaction with colleagues, line management and senior management
• Processing of payroll for the companies, including weekly and monthly payrolls
• Management of full end to end processing and payroll completion, cover and payments, preparing and distributing payslips
• Calculating pay rises, shift payments and overtime
• Collation and input of all relevant payroll data and information, such as overtime
• Processing and staying up to date with SSP, SMP, SPP and any other statutory payments
• BACS payment submission
• HMRC submissions
• Pension submissions / Company auto enrolment / enrolment of employees
• Managing NI changes / Tax code changes
• Management of time and attendance payroll data, checking employee hours, questioning anomalies, calculating basic pay, absence and overtime
• Processing of leavers and new starters
• Apprenticeship levy
• Issuing P45s and other necessary tax forms
• Management of tax year end process from start to finish
• Managing deductions, such as tax, insurance, pensions and any other employee deductions
• Ensuring compliance with National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage
• Maintaining compliant policies and processes
• Maintaining payroll records, such as employee data, new starters, terminations, absence data and salary changes
• Management and analysis of payroll data
• Ensuring compliance, staying up to date with payroll regulations, tax laws and compliance requirements
• Generating payroll reports, including reports for management and senior stakeholders
• Gender pay gap calculation and report
• Provision of reports in support of annual pay negotiations, pay analysis and business review meetings
• Supporting HR department and business with Civica reports and projects
• Communicating effectively and efficiently with employees: the HR Department, finance department and senior stakeholders
• Reconciling payroll accounts / supporting finance with the payroll journals
• Resolving discrepancies, in a clear and timely manner
• Completion of all salary increase letters and salary increase procedures
• Monitor salary increases, providing key stakeholders with the information when required
• General ad hoc HR admin duties required
• Ensure all activities carried out are ethical, meet H&S regulations and comply with company procedures
• Ensure your area of responsibility complies with the Environmental Management System

Experience, Qualifications & Skills required to apply:

Education:
• Degree level/specific payroll qualification - Desirable
• CIPP Qualification - Desirable
• Maths and English (C or above) or equivalent

Experience & training:

• Two years’ experience of running payroll end to end
• Ability to manage the payroll process, and offer flexibility to get the role accomplished
• Excellent data entry skills
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Familiar with payroll software

Skills and Knowledge:

• Resilient and comfortable working under pressure
• Knowledge of payroll legislation
• Sensitivity and understanding
• Ability to work independently
• Thorough attention to detail
