Passive Fire Surveyor – Fire Doors & Fire Stopping (Temp Contract) Location: Edinburgh Day Rate: Competitive (DOE – CIS)
The Opportunity
This is an excellent short-term contract opportunity for two experienced passive fire surveyors to carry out fire door and fire stopping surveys across a social housing project in Cornwall. The contract is expected to run for four to six week, with accommodation available if required (Ideally not). The client is flexible on rate for the right candidates.
The Role
As Passive Fire Surveyor, you will carry out thorough surveys of fire doors and fire stopping across occupied social housing, including full access to individual flats, communal doors, risers and compartmentation. You will be expected to work independently and efficiently across both sites, managing your own workload and producing accurate survey records throughout.
This role is similar in nature to ongoing surveying contracts and would suit an experienced passive fire professional comfortable working across occupied residential environments.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out fire door surveys across flat entrance doors, communal doors and associated ironmongery
Survey fire stopping works including risers, penetration seals, cavity barriers and compartmentation lines
Conduct full surveys within individual flats with full site access provided
Record all survey findings accurately using digital reporting tools
Identify defects and non-compliance issues in line with current regulations and standards
Work across two sites approximately 10 miles apart in Cornwall
Maintain a professional approach when working within occupied social housing
What We're Looking For
Proven experience surveying fire doors and fire stopping within social housing or similar occupied environments
Strong knowledge of fire door compliance including gaps, tolerances, ironmongery, intumescent seals and signage
Strong knowledge of fire stopping and compartmentation including penetration seals, cavity barriers and risers
Experience using digital survey and reporting tools
Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites
FDIS or equivalent fire door inspection qualification — desirable
Knowledge of FIRAS, BM TRADA or IFC standards — desirable
CSCS Card — desirable
Full UK Driving Licence — required
