Description

Axcis Education are working closely to support a unique post-16 SEMH provision in Torbay, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Post-16 Leader to oversee the development and implementation of supported internships for their students. This is a full time, permanent role to start in September 2025. The successful candidate will be paid against the Main Pay Scale (MPS) for Teachers, or Unqualified Main Pay Scale (UPMS) for Unqualified Teachers.

The Role:
As the Post-16 Leader, you will play a vital role in shaping the future pathway of students, ensuring they are well-prepared for life beyond school, including potential GCSEs and A-levels. You will work closely with community partners to build valuable links, creating internship opportunities and enhancing the school’s curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement the Post-16 Vision for the school.
-Lead the development of the Post-16 curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of students.
-Create and maintain strong partnerships with local community providers to facilitate supported internships.
-Manage pupil progress tracking systems, ensuring all students are supported in reaching their potential.
-Lead the planning and implementation of internships, monitoring outcomes and ensuring successful placements.
-Allocate and manage resources effectively.
-Provide professional development for staff to ensure high-quality delivery of the Post-16 curriculum.

About the Provision:
The provision caters predominantly to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many students have experienced, or are experiencing, some form of trauma, which can impact their self-esteem, self-regulation, and communication with adults. However, these students are kind, caring, and enjoy attending school, as it is a place where they feel safe, secure, and part of a supportive family community.

Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will be a secondary SEND teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). However, the provision will also consider candidates with experience working as an unqualified SEND teacher, provided they have relevant experience in a similar setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people in a supportive, trauma-informed environment.

Salary & Benefits:

-Salary will be negotiated based on experience in line with the Main Pay Scale (for QTS) or Unqualified Teachers (for unqualified candidates).
-Permanent, full-time, term-time role based in Torbay.
