Description
Axcis Education are supporting a primary school in Torbay who are looking for a swimming teacher from after half term. This is a full time position which will last at least until the end of the autumn term. The hours are 10.00 - 15.15 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 11.45 - 15.15 Thursday. This will be an hourly rate of pay between £13-£16 p/h, depending on previous teaching experience. Please see below for more information on the position, and apply today if you are interested.
Key Purpose of the Role
•To deliver an engaging and inclusive swimming programme for primary-aged pupils across the Trust and for external community users. The role aims to promote water confidence, swimming ability, and enjoyment in a safe, supportive environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
•Teaching and Learning
•Plan, deliver, and evaluate swimming sessions that meet the varying needs and abilities of all pupils.
•Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere that supports pupil engagement and safety.
•Manage pupil behaviour effectively and promote a respectful, fun learning environment.
•Work closely with a swimming assistant to ensure lessons run smoothly and efficiently.
•Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement
•Build and maintain positive relationships with other sporting organisations and community pool users.
•Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies; report any concerns appropriately.
Person Specification
•Qualified swimming teacher (relevant certification required).
•Experience teaching primary-aged pupils preferred.
•Strong classroom and poolside management skills.
•Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
•Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
