Are you a psychology graduate eager to put your knowledge into practice and make a real difference in young people’s lives?

Axcis Education is partnering with a welcoming primary school in the heart of Gloucester, offering exceptional learning spaces such as a Forest School and a specialised SEND Resource Base, where children thrive through creative, hands-on and individualised learning.

Why Psychology Graduates Make Fantastic SEN Teaching Assistants:

Your background in child development, behaviour and learning psychology gives you valuable insight into how children think, feel, and learn. As a psychology graduate, you naturally bring:

- Empathy and emotional intelligence to understand and respond to students’ individual needs.

- Analytical and observational skills to identify learning barriers and support behaviour positively.

- A calm, reflective approach to help create a nurturing, structured environment where every child can succeed.

This role is ideal if you’re considering a career in educational psychology, clinical psychology, or teaching, and want hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) — including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role:

- You’ll work alongside class teachers and the SEND team to:
- Support individual and small groups of pupils with additional learning or emotional needs.
- Adapt learning activities to suit each child’s strengths and needs.
- Encourage social skills, confidence, and independence.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

What We’re Looking For:

- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with children or young people (through volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, or paid work) is highly desirable.

If you’re a psychology graduate ready to gain valuable experience in education while making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
