Description
Are you passionate about supporting children with complex special educational needs to reach their full potential? Do you want to work in a truly exceptional, nurturing environment where positivity, acceptance, and friendship are at the heart of everything?
We are recruiting on behalf of an Outstanding special school, part of a specialist multi-academy trust focused on delivering the highest quality provision for children and young people with complex co-existing learning difficulties, including speech, language and communication needs.
The school provides a holistic education for pupils across the primary and secondary phases, blending academic learning with vocational, life-skills, employability programmes, personal development, and strong emotional wellbeing support. The aim is to equip every young person with the skills for healthy, happy, independent adult lives and meaningful employment.
We are seeking a dedicated Child Support Worker to join this inspiring team in the South Gloucestershire area (on the outskirts of Bristol).
Key responsibilities
Deliver personalised 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access the curriculum and build independence
Support with personal care, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills
Assist in classroom, vocational, life-skills, and community-based activities
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement tailored support plans
Help foster a safe, respectful, and positive school culture where every pupil feels valued and empowered
What we’re looking for
Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND (paid or voluntary)
Empathy, patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to making a difference
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a supportive team
Enthusiasm for professional growth and a willingness to undertake training
Why this is a great opportunity
Join an Outstanding school with a committed, collaborative staff team and a warm, family-like ethos
Genuine career progression – many support staff advance to senior roles, HLTA positions, or teaching careers within the school and wider trust
Free, unlimited CPD tailored to the SEND sector through Axcis Education’s exclusive partnership with The National College – access over 1,400 webinars and 180+ online courses at no cost to you, supporting your ongoing development and career goals
A values-driven environment built on trust, respect, compassion, and pupil-centred practice
This role offers far more than day-to-day support – it’s a chance to contribute meaningfully to young people’s futures while benefiting from exceptional professional development and clear pathways for growth.
If you’re motivated, caring, and ready to join an outstanding team, we’d love to hear from you.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to this vibrant, aspirational community!
