1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Autism Support | Hemel Hempstead | Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm

We are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil with Autism who presents with challenging behaviours within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hemel Hempstead.

Staff work collaboratively to ensure all pupils receive the support they need to flourish both academically and personally. Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism throughout the school day.
Implement strategies to support the child's emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Build a trusting, consistent relationship that promotes confidence and engagement.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver personalised support.
Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs and learning style.
Use positive behaviour management techniques to de-escalate challenging situations safely and effectively.
Encourage communication, social interaction and independence both inside and outside the classroom.
Monitor progress and contribute to observations and feedback for the wider school team.
Ensure the child's safety, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.
We're Looking For
Experience supporting children with Autism and/or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
A calm, patient and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
