Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism & Complex Needs (EN3)
Specialist SEN School | ASAP Start
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEN school in EN3. This full-time role involves supporting pupils with autism, complex learning needs and non-verbal communication, both within the classroom and on a 1:1 basis.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with autism and complex needs through structured routines and sensory-based activities
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to promote engagement and learning
Using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton and visual supports
Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to follow individual support plans
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting children with autism and complex needs
Be confident using, or willing to learn, PECS, Makaton or visual communication tools
Be calm, patient and nurturing in their approach
Be able to commit for the remainder of the academic year
