**Job Title:** SEND Teaching Assistant (ASD Specialist for KS3)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant, with a specialism in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), to join our dynamic team. ### Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a KS3 student with ASD, focusing on academic progress and social integration.
- Implement individual education and behavior plans, as directed by the SENCO or class teacher, to meet the unique needs of the student.
- Facilitate communication between the student and peers, as well as with staff, to promote effective interaction and understanding.
- Monitor and encourage the student’s progress, offering motivational support and positive reinforcement.
- Manage challenging behavior proactively, using de-escalation techniques and adhering to the school’s policies.
- Contribute to the preparation of learning materials tailored to the student’s needs to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Liaise with parents, guardians, and other professionals involved in the student’s education to provide updates and insights into the student’s progress and requirements.
- Attend and contribute to meetings and training sessions relevant to SEND practices and student development.
- Assist the class teacher with general duties as required, while emphasizing the facilitation of an inclusive classroom environment.
### Requirements:
- A proven track record as a Teaching Assistant with experience in SEND, specifically with students diagnosed with ASD.
- Knowledge of KS3 curriculum and an understanding of the developmental, academic, and social needs of children with ASD.
- Capability to handle challenging behavior with patience, empathy, and effective strategies.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification is desirable (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
- An up-to-date DBS check, or willingness to undertake one.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with students, educators, and parents.
