Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEND Support | Chorley | September Start
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Axcis Education is a specialist SEND agency that provides SEND staff to schools for short-term, long-term, and temp-to-perm opportunities. We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Chorley from September.
This mainstream secondary school has a specialist class that supports pupils with a range of SEND and complex needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students both within the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, helping them to access learning while managing behaviours that may challenge.
This position is initially offered as a long-term contract, with the potential to become temp-to-perm, depending on school funding and candidate performance.
The role includes:
• Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
• Working hours between 8:30am and 4:00pm.
• Supporting secondary-aged pupils with a range of SEND, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge.
• Providing support both in class and on a 1:1 basis.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to promote positive outcomes for students.
To be considered, you will need:
• A minimum of 6 months' experience working with SEND.
• If you are an overseas candidate, you must have at least 3 months' experience working with SEND in the UK.
• Previous experience supporting pupils in a secondary school setting is highly desirable. Candidates with secondary classroom experience and personal SEND experience will also be considered.
• A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND and complex needs.
• A proactive, resilient, and positive approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one (Axcis can support you through the application process).
• The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and the surrounding areas.
