The successful candidate will oversee technical production for large-scale corporate and exhibition events, often across multiple spaces. Working with Technical Managers, Account Managers, Operations teams and freelance crews, you will take responsibility for delivery from concept through to de-rig.
You will also support the development of the wider technical team through mentoring, coaching and identifying opportunities for professional growth. You will help promote continuous improvement, technical excellence and safe working practices across the department.
This role would suit someone currently working in technical production, AV project management, or senior event delivery who is looking to take ownership of larger and more technically demanding projects.
Key Responsibilities
Event Delivery & Technical Leadership
• Lead technical planning and delivery for live events, including AV systems, scenic elements, LED solutions and rigging requirements.
• Take overall responsibility for technical operations across multi-space or multi-stream events.
• Support Technical Managers with specialist advice on complex production requirements.
• Ensure installations and de-rigs are completed safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications.
• Act as the senior technical point of contact throughout delivery.
Planning & Documentation
• Produce and review technical drawings, equipment layouts, signal-flow documentation and cable schedules.
• Develop detailed event plans that support efficient onsite execution.
• Create and maintain health and safety documentation for each project.
• Communicate technical information clearly to internal teams, suppliers and clients.
Commercial & Client Engagement
• Participate in client meetings and project development discussions.
• Provide technical input for proposals and new business pitches.
• Work with Account Managers to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that meet client objectives.
Resource & Team Management
• Work with Operations teams to define crew, transport and equipment requirements.
• Coordinate technical personnel, local labour and logistics resources as needed.
• Support training initiatives and skills development across the technical department.
• Encourage best practice, professional standards and continuous learning.
Industry Knowledge & Compliance
• Stay informed about emerging event technologies, production techniques and industry developments.
• Promote safe working practices and compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.
• Champion high standards of technical delivery and operational excellence.
About You
You will bring significant experience in technical event production together with the leadership skills needed to manage complex projects and support developing teams.
Essential Experience & Skills
• Strong background in live event production, with progression into technical management, project management or a similar leadership role.

• Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings using Vectorworks or comparable CAD software.
• Confidence calculating equipment requirements, loadings, sightlines, projection distances, lighting positions, audio coverage and power consumption.

• Competent user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional, composed and solution-focused in demanding environments.
Qualifications
• A-Level standard education or equivalent.
• Relevant higher education qualification desirable but not essential.

Projects are primarily delivered during weekdays; however, flexibility is required as schedules may include evening and weekend work. This role is not suited to a traditional 9-to-5 pattern and requires adaptability to meet client and project demands.
