Our client, a substantial international financial services and insurance organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager for its Guernsey operation.

This is a permanent, full-time senior appointment with responsibility for representing the Internal Audit function across the Guernsey business and its branches. The role will have considerable exposure to senior management and will play an important part in shaping and delivering the local Internal Audit plan.

The position would suit an established Internal Audit leader who can combine technical audit expertise with credible stakeholder management and practical, commercially focused advice.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage Internal Audit activity across the Guernsey business and its branches.
• Develop and deliver the annual Internal Audit plan in line with Group methodology and priorities.
• Conduct annual risk assessments and identify appropriate audit priorities.
• Plan and lead financial and operational risk-based audits across the organisation.
• Evaluate internal controls, governance arrangements, risk management processes and fraud risk.
• Present audit findings to senior management and recommend practical remedial action.
• Act as a key Internal Audit contact for senior management and the Guernsey Executive Committee.
• Prepare high-quality Executive MI and Audit Committee papers.
• Contribute to assurance opinions on key systems of internal control.
• Prepare information and reports for regulators where required.
• Oversee the closure and validation of audit issues and agreed action plans.
• Build strong relationships across Internal Audit, control functions and the wider business.
• Coach and develop colleagues and support continuous improvement across the function.

About You
Our client is looking for an experienced audit professional who can demonstrate:
• A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIIA.
• Substantial internal audit experience within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of internal control, governance and risk management frameworks.
• The credibility to work effectively with executives and other senior stakeholders.
• The ability to challenge constructively and influence senior decision-makers.
• Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness and sound judgement.
• Excellent written, presentation and relationship management skills.
• The ability to lead audit activity while maintaining quality across competing priorities.
• Financial services experience, with previous exposure to the insurance sector particularly attractive.
• Experience auditing technology-related areas or applying data analytics would be beneficial.
• Line management experience is desirable, with responsibility for one direct report based in the Guernsey office.
