Description

Location: Somerton
Pay: £110–£170 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, term-time | Long-term opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable teacher to join a small specialist school in Somerton, supporting pupils across KS2 and KS3.

The school supports young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, global developmental delay and associated behavioural needs. With a strong belief that every young person can reach their potential, the school provides a nurturing, engaging environment where pupils are supported to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Class sizes are small, typically between 5–10 pupils, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and tailor learning to individual needs.

The Role:

You will play an important role in delivering engaging, personalised learning experiences, helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and wider skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons and learning activities across the curriculum
• Adapting teaching approaches and resources to meet individual SEND needs
• Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
• Building positive, trusting relationships and encouraging participation
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation within a safe, structured environment
• Promoting independence, confidence and life skills
• Working collaboratively with support staff, teachers and other professionals
• Making use of the school's outdoor and practical learning opportunities to enrich the curriculum

About You:

We are keen to hear from a range of education professionals, including qualified teachers, HLTAs and unqualified teachers with relevant classroom experience.

You will ideally have experience working with children or young people with SEND, although a positive attitude, adaptability and a genuine passion for specialist education are just as important.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
• Confident leading learning and adapting activities to suit different abilities
• Patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships
• Comfortable supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional regulation needs
• Creative and enthusiastic about making learning engaging and accessible
• Able to work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team

Why Join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing specialist school where small class sizes allow you to make a genuine difference to pupils' lives.

You'll be part of a dedicated team supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development, working alongside professionals including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, counsellors and Thrive practitioners.

If you're an enthusiastic education professional looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity in specialist education, we'd love to hear from you.
