Job Title: Sports Coach Teaching Assistant
Location: Teignbridge/Torbay, Devon
Position Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday) 8:30 - 3:30, starting in May 2025.
Salary: £90-£105 a day, depending on previous experience.
We are looking for an energetic and passionate Sports Coach to join our supportive team as a Teaching Assistant within Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools in Teignbridge and Torbay, Devon. If you have a talent for engaging students through sports and physical education, we need you to help us inspire young minds and contribute to their physical and emotional development.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in the delivery of PE lessons and the development of sports programs tailored for children with SEND.
- Use a variety of coaching techniques to engage and motivate students while catering to a range of abilities and individual needs.
- Help establish a safe and supportive environment for children to develop their physical skills and enjoy participating in sports.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to integrate physical education with other aspects of students' learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them set and achieve personal goals.
- Assist with the planning and execution of sports days, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
- Encourage positive behavior and social skills through team sports and collaborative exercises.
- Support students' personal care needs and assist with classroom management when not leading sports activities.
- Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development related to SEND provision.
**Qualifications:**
- Relevant sports coaching qualifications or an equivalent degree in Sports Science or Physical Education.
- Experience working with children and, preferably, experience working with children with SEND.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and the welfare of children.
- Ability to adapt coaching methods to meet the needs of students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude, patience, and resilience when facing challenges.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undertake this check.
