Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit team in Yeovil, Somerset, starting in September. The PRU caters to students from Key Stages 2-4 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The school strives to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all their students, helping them to achieve their potential.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all students, especially those with SEMH needs.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy.
- Assess and record students’ progress, preparing reports and attending parent meetings to communicate students’ development.
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop and maintain individualised education plans for students.
- Use effective strategies to promote positive, respectful relationships among students.
- Contribute to extra-curricular activities and school events.
- Participate in continuous professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including teaching assistants, therapists, and family services, to provide holistic support to students.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs; prior experience in this area is desirable but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of the current curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Capacity to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to inclusive education and equality.
