About the Role

A dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant is required to join the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Centre within a primary school in Hounslow. The role involves supporting primary-aged pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired within the school’s Deaf Centre and mainstream classes.

The successful applicant will assist in delivering an inclusive learning environment and will work alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and specialist staff to provide tailored educational and communication support to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide support for pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired in both the Deaf Centre and mainstream settings.

Facilitate communication through the use of British Sign Language (BSL).

Assist in lesson delivery and adapt learning materials as required.

Promote inclusion, confidence, and independence for all pupils.

Support the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils.

Collaborate effectively with teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals.

Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to planning and review processes.

Requirements

BSL qualification or fluency, minimum Level 2 preferred.

Experience working with children who are deaf or have hearing impairments.

Previous experience supporting SEN or primary-aged pupils.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

A patient, caring, and proactive approach with a commitment to supporting learning and development.
