An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and forward-thinking school team from September, working with Key Stage 2 pupils who present a wide range of high-level additional needs.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong sense of initiative, a calm and compassionate nature, and a real passion for helping children thrive. Each child brings their own unique strengths and challenges, making this a varied and rewarding position within a team that believes in collaboration, flexibility, and shared success.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to Key Stage 2 pupils with complex and varied SEN profiles, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
Deliver personal care where needed, with dignity and sensitivity.
Carry out manual handling tasks when required (note: full training is not provided).
Support during weekly swimming sessions; some staff will assist pupils in waist-high water as needed.
Assist in the regulation of challenging behaviours using calm, consistent strategies.
Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
Work closely with a diverse, experienced team where teamwork and communication are key to success.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Previous experience supporting SEN pupils, preferably in a Key Stage 2 setting.
Ability to adapt support approaches based on each child’s needs.
Confidence to act decisively and supportively in a fast-paced school environment.
A collaborative, team-focused approach with a strong sense of empathy.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (required for appointment).
