Teaching Assistant Level 1 – Primary Schools in Stockport

Start Date: January 2026
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Pay: £90–£100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Axcis Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Level 1 Teaching Assistants to support a number of welcoming and vibrant primary schools across Stockport from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to start or further develop their career within education, particularly those passionate about supporting children with a range of needs.

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant Level 1, you will work under the guidance of class teachers and SENCOs to help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. You will play an essential part in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

The Main Duties of This Role Will Involve:
• Supporting pupils in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children who may need additional help with learning, behaviour, or social development.
• Assisting with the preparation of learning materials, resources, and classroom displays.
• Helping to maintain a safe, engaging and positive learning environment.
• Supporting children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and mild learning difficulties.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils follow school routines and expectations.
• Assisting pupils with personal care when required (training can be provided).
• Contributing to the assessment and tracking of pupil progress by providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Supervising children during break times, lunch, and transitions around school.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to promote the welfare and learning of pupils.

Experience working with children—whether in a school, nursery, youth setting, or personal capacity—is highly desirable.

Training in SEND (Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour, etc.) is helpful, but full support can be provided.

If you are enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to make a meaningful difference in local Stockport schools from January 2026, we would love to hear from you.
