Description
Location: Taunton
Pay: £92–£109 per day
Type: Full-time / Permanent Opportunity
We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a large and welcoming secondary school in Taunton, supporting a pupil to access learning and get the most from their school experience.
The school has a strong ethos of high standards and high expectations, alongside a caring and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and personally.
Their most recent Ofsted inspection highlighted the school's warm relationships between staff and pupils, calm learning environment and strong culture of safeguarding.
The role:
As a 1:1 TA, you will provide consistent, individualised support to a pupil throughout the school day. You'll work closely with teaching staff and the school's wider pastoral and SEND teams to help the pupil engage positively with school.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Providing 1:1 support across lessons and different areas of the school
• Helping the pupil access and engage with the curriculum
• Supporting organisation, concentration and independence
• Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil
• Helping the pupil manage challenges and regulate their emotions
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Working closely with teachers and SEND staff to provide consistent support
We're looking for someone who:
• Has previous experience working with children or young people
• Is patient, calm and emotionally resilient
• Can build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Is confident supporting pupils with additional needs
• Can adapt their approach to meet an individual's needs
• Is proactive and able to encourage independence rather than creating dependence
• Communicates well and works effectively as part of a wider team
Experience as a TA, learning mentor, youth worker, support worker or in a similar role would be beneficial. Experience supporting young people with SEND, emotional needs or challenging behaviour would also be highly valued.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine, day-to-day difference to a young person's education and confidence, while becoming part of a school with high expectations and a strong focus on safeguarding and positive relationships.
If you're a reliable, compassionate and adaptable TA looking for a rewarding 1:1 role, we'd love to hear from you.
