Description
Are you an enthusiastic educator looking for flexible teaching work in a Good-rated secondary school in Taunton? We are recruiting Cover Teachers to provide high-quality, temporary classroom leadership across a range of subjects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, has experience leading classes or groups, and wants to build valuable school-based experience — no formal teaching qualification required.
About the School:
The school provides a caring and challenging learning environment where students are encouraged to strive, enjoy and achieve. Leaders have established a culture of high expectations, warm relationships and a calm, focused atmosphere in lessons and around the site, helping students feel safe and supported as they learn. Inspectors’ comments from the most recent Ofsted inspection highlight ambition for pupils and strong personal development opportunities.
Students benefit from a broad curriculum and a school ethos that nurtures individual talents, encourages respect and celebrates achievement — academically and personally.
As a Cover Teacher you will:
• Lead classes and student groups across a range of subjects and year groups
• Deliver pre-planned lessons with confidence and clarity
• Maintain positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Support students’ academic progress and wellbeing
• Step into classes at short notice with professionalism and flexibility
You’ll be expected to work with energy, clarity and a positive approach that helps students stay on track and focused throughout the school day.
We’re looking for people who are:
• Experienced in leading classes, groups or large teams
• Confident communicating with young people aged 11–16
• Able to manage behaviour effectively and maintain routines
• Organised, adaptable and able to respond calmly to change
• Passionate about helping students succeed — qualifications are not essential
Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, youth work, support roles or any setting involving group leadership is valued. A willingness to engage with students of diverse abilities and interests is key.
Role Details:
• Pay: from £100 per day
• Flexible cover work across the school timetable
• Temporary placements with potential for regular bookings
• Great way to gain teaching experience and progress into more sustained roles
If you’re passionate about education, confident leading learning and ready to step into classrooms with impact — this role offers real experience and progression opportunities.
