Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Team Teach Trained
Location: Oldham, Lancashire
Salary: £95 per day
Hours: Full-time, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
Contract: Temporary, starting 3rd November
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to join our school's SEND hub. The successful candidate will have a current Level 2 or above Team Teach training certification and the resilience required to manage a transition period for a child with Autism and complex behaviors in Year 2.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with Autism who exhibits complex behaviors, ensuring their educational, social, and emotional development.
- Implement tailored support strategies to facilitate the child’s learning and engagement under the guidance of the SEND coordinator.
- Work closely with the SEND hub team to monitor the child's progress and adjust support plans as necessary.
- Be patient and adaptable to manage and respond effectively to the child’s challenging behaviors, especially during the staffing change process.
- Foster a safe and positive learning environment that accommodates the child's needs.
- Maintain excellent communication with colleagues, parents/carers, and external professionals involved in the child's care.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Keep accurate records of the child's progress, behavior plans, and any incidents.
Candidate Profile:
- Must have Team Teach Level 2 or higher qualification.
- Experience working with children with Autism and complex behaviors.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEND and the strategies to support them.
- Resilient and patient approach, with an ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills to ensure clear and supportive interactions with the child, staff, and parents.
- DBS checked, or willing to undergo a disclosure and barring service check.
