Axcis Education are recruiting on behalf of a primary school in the Totterdown area of Bristol for a Teaching Assistant to support two Year 3 pupils with additional needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is energetic, patient, and passionate about supporting children with SEND in a nurturing primary school environment.
About the Role:
You will be supporting two pupils in Year 3, each with different needs:
Pupil 1:
• A bright, engaging child with suspected ADHD/ASC (currently undiagnosed)
• Has experienced periods of dysregulation and disengagement, including previous exclusions
• Currently on a part-time timetable (mornings only), with the aim of returning to full-time as soon as possible
• Requires:
o Clear boundaries and consistent support
o Daily 1:1 reading and phonics catch-up sessions
o Regular sensory breaks throughout the day
• Parents are highly supportive, and the school is in the process of submitting an ENC needs assessment
Pupil 2:
• Has an EHCP
• No behavioural concerns
• Requires:
o Regular check-ins throughout the day
o Support with transitions
o Reminders to attend to personal care (toileting)
o Help staying on task during lessons
o Use of visual timetables
o 1:1 handwriting and reading sessions
The Ideal Candidate:
• Has experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ADHD, ASC, or learning needs
• Is calm, consistent, and energetic
• Confident delivering 1:1 interventions
• Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
• Comfortable working closely with class teachers and SEN staff
