Location: Horwich, Bolton
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Daily Rate: £89 – £105 per day
Start Date: ASAP or October Half Term
Contract Type: Temporary with the potential to become permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) to join a welcoming school in Horwich, Bolton. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people who may face barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs.

As a key member of the support team, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Assist in the development of tailored strategies to support positive behaviour and engagement.

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote emotional wellbeing.

Support the delivery of lessons and help pupils access the curriculum.

Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies where required.

Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (essential).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to supporting behaviour.

Ability to adapt quickly and remain calm under pressure.

A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

Relevant training (Team Teach, MAPA, or similar) is desirable but not essential.
