SEMH Teaching Assistants – Immediate & October Starts
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming independent specialist school in Crosby, supporting pupils aged 8–16. With opportunities available for an immediate or October 2026 start, this is a great opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Support Workers and candidates with relevant SEN experience to make a real difference.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs
• Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence and independence
• Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce clear, consistent boundaries
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to support individual pupils
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who:
• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, behavioural needs or other additional needs
• Are calm, patient, resilient and consistent
• Can build strong relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
• Are confident supporting pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour
• Have a genuine interest in helping young people develop socially, emotionally and academically
Previous experience in a school, SEN setting, care environment, youth work or similar role would be beneficial, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
