Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Pay: From £450/week
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30-3.30, Term-time only
Location: Patchway, BS34
Axcis Education are working closely with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the Patchway area who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 with Autism and behavioural needs.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to lead to permanent employment for the right candidate. The school is looking for someone who is proactive, positive, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with SEND.
The role will involve:
Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day
Tailoring learning activities to meet the needs of a pupil with Autism
Supporting speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)
Using an understanding of behaviour as communication to respond calmly and consistently
Encouraging engagement, independence, and emotional regulation
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team
The ideal candidate:
Has experience supporting children with SEND (school-based experience is not essential)
Demonstrates a good understanding of Autism and SLCN
Is active, enthusiastic, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
Is motivated by making a positive difference to children’s lives
Experience from care, support work, youth work, or similar SEND-related roles will be strongly considered.
