Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in a mainstream school setting?
Axcis Education are working closely with friendly and inclusive secondary schools in Oldham, who are looking to appoint a full-time teaching assistant to support pupils with ADHD and Autism. The role involves providing one-to-one and small group support, helping children stay engaged, build confidence and reach their potential.
What the role involves:
Supporting pupils with additional needs, particularly ADHD and Autism, in a mainstream classroom.
Providing structured one-to-one support, helping children stay focused and manage routines.
Working closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies.
Creating a calm and positive environment that supports learning and emotional wellbeing.
Assisting with classroom tasks such as preparing resources and maintaining an organised learning space.
Helping to monitor and feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
Promoting inclusion and supporting the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies.
The ideal candidate:
Previous experience working with children or young people – ideally in a school or support setting.
A patient, consistent and nurturing approach to working with pupils who may need extra help.
A good understanding of ADHD, Autism or additional needs (or a willingness to learn).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or experience supporting SEND is desirable.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Axcis.
