Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Radstock
Part-time & Full-time – Immediate start and September start dates available

About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable Teaching Assistants to join our team of dedicated professionals in the Radstock primary schools. You will provide essential classroom support, deliver targeted small-group literacy interventions, and offer one-to-one assistance to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on young learners while developing your own skills in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Assist the class teacher with daily lesson preparation and delivery.
- Supervise and engage pupils during whole-class, group, and outdoor activities.
- Help maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive learning environment.

Literacy Intervention
- Deliver structured small-group reading and phonics sessions.
– Track progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.

1-to-1 SEND Support
- Provide individualised assistance to pupils with SEND, following each child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Implement targeted strategies to support learning, communication, and social interaction.

Behaviour & Well-being
- Promote positive behaviour management techniques.
- Support pupils’ emotional and social development.

Administrative Duties*
- Prepare teaching resources, set up equipment, and organise learning materials.
- Record attendance, assessment data and any relevant observations.

Team Collaboration
- Work closely with teachers, senior staff, and other support personnel.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

Relevant experience working with children in a school or childcare setting (e.g., previous TA role, teaching placement, volunteer work).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Experience of supporting pupils with SEND and familiarity with EHCPs is an advantage.
Reliable driver with a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
But If you do not have a car, you must be comfortable using public transport (bus & train services are available to Radstock).
