A welcoming and supportive secondary school in the L30 area is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEN provision from September 2026.

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide personalised support to students throughout the school day.
You will support students both in lessons and around the school, helping them to engage with their learning and overcome individual barriers. The role will involve working with students who may have a range of additional needs, requiring patience, consistency and an understanding approach.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support and helping students access appropriately differentiated learning
• Supporting communication, literacy, numeracy, social skills, emotional regulation and independence
• Helping students manage transitions, classroom routines and changes throughout the school day
• Supporting individual learning plans and EHCP outcomes
• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and appropriate social interaction
• Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt support where required
The successful candidate will become an important part of the students' daily support network, helping them feel safe, understood and confident in their learning environment.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is patient, calm and resilient, with the ability to build trusting and professional relationships with young people.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND would be beneficial, whether this has been gained in a school, care, youth work or similar setting. However, candidates with strong transferable experience and the right attitude will also be considered.
You should be adaptable, confident following individual support strategies and passionate about helping young people become as independent as possible.
A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice is essential, alongside the ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
