Setting: All-Through SEMH School
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:15am–2:45pm (Wednesday until 4:00pm for staff training)
Pay: £14.25–£15.00 per hour PAYE

Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting pupils throughout the school day within a specialist SEMH setting
• Working alongside teachers to provide individualised classroom support
• Providing one-to-one and small-group assistance where appropriate
• Encouraging pupils to engage positively with lessons and activities
• Helping pupils manage emotions, behaviour and barriers to learning
• Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils
• Supporting the development of communication, social and independence skills
• Maintaining a calm, structured and supportive learning environment
• Following individual support strategies and personalised approaches to learning
• Encouraging pupils to recognise and celebrate their own achievements
• Working collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and wider support teams
The Successful Teaching Assistant Will Have:
• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in education, SEND, SEMH, care or youth work
• A patient, compassionate and understanding approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The resilience to support pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• A genuine interest in supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs
• The ability to remain calm, consistent and professional
• A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist educational environment
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Personal experience will be considered alongside professional experience, so candidates who have developed relevant skills through supporting children or young people outside of a formal workplace are encouraged to apply.
