SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate & October Starts
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the L30 area is looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term, full-time basis. With immediate and October starts available, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience within a supportive secondary school environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the school's SEND team to help students overcome barriers to learning and access the curriculum.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of SEND
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH
• Helping students access learning and adapt classroom activities where required
• Supporting literacy, numeracy, organisation and classroom engagement
• Building positive relationships and encouraging confidence, independence and resilience
• Supporting the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning strategies
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students with their emotional wellbeing
• Providing feedback to teachers and the wider SEND team on pupil progress and needs

• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either in education, care, youth work or a similar setting
• Are patient, calm, resilient and adaptable
• Can build positive and professional relationships with young people
• Are confident supporting students across different subjects and abilities

• Are committed to helping young people overcome barriers and make progress
Relevant experience is important, but we're also interested in candidates with strong transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
