Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Andover
Setting: Secondary School
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £14.25 – £14.35 per hour PAYE
Axcis Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Andover. This full-time Teaching Assistant position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping young people overcome barriers to learning and become more confident, independent learners.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and supports students with a range of additional needs through classroom strategies, targeted interventions and personalised support. The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and the wider inclusion team to help students achieve.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide practical classroom support while encouraging students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Supporting students during lessons and helping them access the curriculum
- Working with small groups and individual pupils who require additional support
- Assisting students with SEND, including learning, communication and emotional needs
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and effective learning habits
- Supporting targeted interventions and skills-based activities
- Working closely with teachers and the inclusion team
- Encouraging positive behaviour, communication and social development
- Supporting students to make progress academically and personally
The Ideal Teaching Assistant:
- Has experience working with children or young people
- SEND experience
- Is patient, approachable, and consistent
- Can adapt their approach to meet individual student needs
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is passionate about inclusive education and helping students achieve their potential
