We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team within a respected PRU setting. This is your chance to empower students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to grow, succeed and believe in their potential.
What You’ll Be Doing
Inspire & Support:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping students build resilience, confidence and academic progress.
Collaborate:
Work closely with teachers, behaviour specialists and support staff to deliver tailored interventions and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Create a Safe Space:
Foster a positive, nurturing environment where students feel respected, valued and understood.
Empower Growth:
Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, coping strategies, social skills and positive learning habits.
Track Progress:
Monitor behaviour, engagement and academic development, celebrating achievements along the way.
Be Creative:
Contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging, accessible learning activities that inspire students who may not thrive in traditional settings.
About You
• You are someone who genuinely wants to help young people overcome barriers and achieve their best. Ideally, you will bring:
• Experience in residential care, youth work, alternative provision, SEN or similar settings
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships
• Patience, adaptability, emotional resilience and a calm, supportive approach
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
