Our client, a high-profile financial services regulatory body, is looking for a forward-thinking Technology Innovation Assistant Director to fill a fixed-term contract ending in Q1 2028. This is a pivotal role within a newly established unit dedicated to reshaping how modern technology enhances risk-based supervision and operational efficiency.
The Opportunity
The client is a leading island-based regulator with an exceptional international reputation for maintaining high standards of financial crime, conduct, and prudential regulation. Operating at the intersection of finance and advanced technology, they offer a sophisticated, collaborative environment where data science and regulatory strategy meet. This role provides an exceptional vantage point to influence how technology like RegTech, SupTech, and AI transforms the local and international financial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
• Unit Coordination: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Technology Innovation Unit, manage shifting priorities, and allocate tasks across the functional team.
• Solution Delivery: Develop, test, and deploy practical, innovative tools—including AI agents and machine learning models—to enhance supervisory processes.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with divisional representatives, supervisors, and technical experts to present findings, demonstrations, and training across the organization.
• Project Oversight: Manage project delivery using frameworks like Agile or Waterfall, utilize tools such as JIRA, and oversee all user acceptance testing.
• Technology Evaluation: Review and assess AI-enabled, web-based, or software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, delivering evidence-based adoption recommendations.
• People Management: Support team development by assessing training needs, conducting appraisals, and providing constructive feedback.
What Our Client Is Looking For
• Technical Knowledge: A solid grasp of software development, cloud infrastructure (Azure), APIs, microservices, and data repositories.
• Analytical Skills: Experience with production-grade code (Python, R, or SQL) alongside classical statistical and machine learning techniques like NLP.
• Data Visualization: Proficiency in presenting complex findings visually via tools like Power BI or R Shiny.
• Project Management: Familiarity with project methodologies and software tools like DevOps, JIRA, or MS Project.
• Collaboration: An ability to bridge the gap between technical specialists (engineers, data scientists, BAs) and non-technical business leaders.
