Axcis Education are currently supporting a wonderful independent specialist provision in Newton Abbot, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate English Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
In this rewarding role, you will be working 1:1 with a post-16 student who has ASD and selective mutism, delivering personalised English learning within GCSE and A-Level content. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact by supporting the student’s academic development, confidence, and communication within a calm and nurturing environment.
Set in beautiful countryside surroundings, this provision offers a peaceful and therapeutic learning environment for students aged 5–18 with complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, and social and emotional needs. Staff describe it as a truly special place to work – with outdoor learning spaces, a farm, quiet areas, playing pitches, and an outdoor kitchen, all designed to create a holistic and engaging educational experience.
The Role
-Deliver 1:1 English lessons (GCSE and A-Level content)
-Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of the student
-Work collaboratively with the wider SEND and therapeutic team
-Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment
Requirements
-Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or unqualified but confident delivering A-Level content and experienced in teaching
-Experience supporting students with ASD and/or selective mutism preferred
-A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
-Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car
-Available to start after half term or soon after
Salary and Benefits
-£25,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience, SEND expertise, and qualifications)
