Overview
We are supporting the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) with the search for a Senior Project Manager to support the successful delivery of complex IT and digital capability projects within an international NATO environment.
Working under the direction of the Head of Project Management Office, the successful candidate will support the planning, implementation, governance, and delivery of assigned projects in accordance with NATO regulations and NCIA project management policies and procedures.
This role requires an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable managing project delivery, stakeholders, governance, procurement strategy, quality assurance, and resources across multinational teams operating within both military and civilian environments.
This position would suit someone with prior NATO, NCIA, defence, government, or international programme experience, particularly within large-scale IT organisations and structured delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, implement, and manage assigned projects in line with NATO regulations and NCIA project management policies and procedures
• Deliver projects within agreed Time, Cost, and Quality tolerances
• Develop procurement strategies, benefit and risk analyses, and business cases to secure stakeholder acceptance and funding
• Execute quality assurance activities to ensure successful capability and service delivery
• Understand client requirements, gather information, perform analysis, and support problem resolution
• Identify, plan, and allocate resources to meet project milestones and objectives
• Initiate corrective actions where required to maintain project delivery
• Supervise project teams and individuals, both directly and within matrix environments
• Maintain realistic project plans and ensure regular and accurate stakeholder communication
• Participate in wider project management and PMO-related activities
• Undertake technical support activities where required
• Deputise for higher grade staff when necessary
Required Experience & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ post-degree experience
• Formal Project Management certification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP
• Recent extensive Project Management experience within a large-scale IT organisation
• Experience delivering projects within structured enterprise or government environments
• Knowledge and experience of modern technologies relevant to the role, including:
o Software development platforms
o Business Intelligence tooling such as Power BI
o Strong stakeholder management, communication, and briefing skills
o Experience managing project teams and delivery stakeholders
o ITIL Foundation certification
Practical experience using Project Management automation and collaboration tooling, including:
• ServiceNow
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms
• Collaboration tools
• Knowledge of NATO or national government procurement and acquisition procedures
• Prior experience working in international environments involving military and civilian stakeholders
Highly Desirable Experience
• Previous experience working within NATO or NCIA environments
• Proven success leading project teams within NATO or NCIA
• Understanding of NATO structures, responsibilities, and organisations including ACO and ACT
• Defence or international programme delivery experience
• Experience working within highly regulated environments
