Description

Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant
Location: M7
Contract: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm
Pay: From £13.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated ASD teaching assistant to join our supportive school community in Salford. In this role, you will provide personalised assistance to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), helping to enhance their learning, engagement, and social development within a caring and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the lead teacher to deliver Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for students with ASD.
• Use specialised strategies to support academic progress and social interaction.
• Assist students with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques.
• Promote inclusion by adapting tasks and activities to meet individual needs.
• Support communication development, including the use of PECS, Makaton, or other relevant tools.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with teaching and support staff.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development focused on ASD and SEN practices.

About You:
• Experience supporting children, especially those with ASD
• Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and ASD-specific strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
• A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred)
