This is an exciting opportunity to join this international bank in a key operational risk role. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of robust operational risk frameworks, while embedding a strong risk-aware culture across the business. With extensive cross-functional engagement, this role plays a critical part in shaping the firm’s resilience and governance capabilities.
Responsibilities
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
• Leading the operational risk incident management process, conducting root cause analyses and recommending preventative actions.
• Overseeing complaint handling processes, monitoring trends and ensuring prompt resolution in line with policy thresholds.
• Supporting the delivery of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), including methodologies, guidelines, and reporting frameworks.
• Monitoring risk exposure through Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), loss data and control metrics, and designing dashboards for senior stakeholders.
• Ensuring policies and procedures are current, accessible, and understood by business units.
• Supporting the business continuity framework, including Business Impact Assessments and crisis management protocols.
• Acting as a trusted risk advisor to the business, offering independent oversight and guidance while embedding risk awareness into daily practices.
• Delivering operational risk training and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through workshops and communications.
• Managing relationships with internal stakeholders to drive operational efficiency and enhance risk processes.
• Leading or contributing to jurisdictional projects and initiatives focused on operational risk transformation.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will bring at least 8 years of experience in risk management within financial services or a regulated environment. They will demonstrate strong knowledge of risk frameworks, particularly in relation to Basel standards and GRC platforms. A deep understanding of internal controls, business continuity planning, and regulatory compliance is essential. Experience with Channel Islands regulation and previous roles in offshore environments will be highly advantageous. Strong communication, leadership, and multi-tasking abilities are essential, as is a collaborative and detail-oriented approach.
